Opinion: Ford Foundation’s Education Effort Is Misguided

November 17, 2009

While the Ford Foundation recently pledged $100-million to “transform secondary education in urban schools across the country,” it is not supporting the best ways to help students, argues an editorial in The Wall Street Journal.

Instead of giving money to laudable efforts, like charter schools, voucher efforts, or Teach for America, Ford is pursuing stale ideas, like making a grant to a charitable fund established by the American Federation of Teachers, say the newspaper’s opinion editors.
