PBS Stations: an Easy Mark
September 23, 1999
To the Editor:
Cheers to Henry Goldstein for putting the Public Broadcasting Service list-exchange incident into perspective (“PBS-List Debate: a Lot of Hot-Air Time,” Opinion, August 12).
Once again, it seems charities — especially “liberal” charities — make an easy mark and hot press. Why is there not a similar outcry against the policies of credit-card companies, banks, mortgage companies, and other for-profit outfits that exchange lists and all matter of confidential personal information on a regular basis?
