Edward Chansky is a Las Vegas lawyer who specializes in cause marketing, also known as commercial co-ventures. He’s written a useful overview of the regulations that govern these ventures over at the Cause Marketing Forum.
He also provided us with the contract template he uses when a nonprofit and a corporation are ready to sign on the dotted line. The contract assumes that the products sold through this corporate co-venture will be sold in every state, hence the provisions for state-specific laws.
This document should give you some sense of what a typical contract looks like and what to expect when entering a formal relationship with a company.
