A Checklist for Virtual Event Presenters

February 2, 2021 | Read Time: 1 minute

First impressions matter — even if they’re virtual. When participating in an online event, it’s still important to choose a clean, unwrinkled outfit. But speakers should also consider forgoing a jangly bracelet that could interrupt their audio feed, and ditch the all-white outfit that could blend into the wall behind them. Similarly, it’s just as valuable to maintain eye contact over a video stream as it is in-person. Be mindful of the camera’s angle. Eye level is best so that speakers aren’t staring down into the camera.

Catalyst, a nonprofit dedicated to workplace equity for women, created a checklist for speakers at its virtual events. Download the checklist below to read more tips. And read more advice from Catalyst and other nonprofits to improve virtual fundraising events in the year ahead.
