Live Discussion
Figuring out what makes a wealthy donor favor one cause over another is often hard for fundraisers.
To understand what’s behind their decisions, we invited several wealthy people and an adviser to rich Americans to join us for a live online video conversation. You can hear from them directly in the video recording below and get insights about what big donors want, and how to avoid turning them off.
The Guests:
Marcel and Cynda Collins Arsenault are philanthropists and founders of the Secure World Foundation and the Arsenault Family Foundation. Mr. Arsenault is founder of One Earth Future, an operating foundation that promotes peace.
G. Ryan Ansin has been involved in nonprofit work since he was in middle school and is a coordinator at the Nexus Global Youth Summit, a global group of wealthy people and entrepreneurs interested in philanthropy, impact investing, and education. He is also the founder of Every Person Has a Story, which gives storytelling tools to people in areas of the world that get little media exposure.
Jenna Mulhall-Brereton is director of consulting services at Geneva Global. She works with foundations and nonprofits, providing support for donor engagement and stewardship and multi-donor collaborations, among other things.
The Moderator:
Raymund Flandez covers fundraising at The Chronicle of Philanthropy.
