Midlevel donors, defined differently from one organization to another, give $1,000 to $10,000 annually and likely are among your organization’s most loyal and committed supporters.

Research shows that on average they can provide up to 40 percent of a nonprofit’s annual revenue. But they are often overshadowed by major donors — unless you know how to connect with them in meaningful ways.

“Midlevel donors really want to belong,” explained Kindred Motes, founder of KM Strategies Group, in a Chronicle training. “They want to have a sense of affinity and relationship — something that is more of a partnership than a patronage.”

With a smart cultivation strategy, he said, “today’s $1,000 donor could be tomorrow’s six-figure or seven-figure donor.”

This collection of articles and resources can help you identify and nurture these important supporters so that they keep donating, year after year.
