November 23, 2006 | Read Time: 1 minute

NEW BOOKS

Guide to Getting Arts Grants, by Ellen Liberatori, teaches artists how to find financial support for their work. After providing a basic background on foundations and the grant-making process, Ms. Liberatori describes each step in applying for a grant in detail, including suggestions on how to compile a portfolio, behave at foundation forums, and write a thorough and convincing grant proposal, and where to look for additional resources. Each of the 12 chapters concludes with a list of what grant seekers should do and not do and a summary of the lessons that applicants should heed. The book concludes with a glossary of common terms and a list for further reading.
