The Nonprofit Almanac 2008, by Kennard T. Wing, Thomas H. Pollak, and Amy Blackwood, offers information on assets, employees and compensation, revenue, volunteering, and giving, and tracks the data over time and across different types of organization. In five sections, the almanac explores recent trends in the nonprofit world. Each chapter includes a brief introductory article that summarizes some of the most important and surprising findings from the data, gathered from government agencies and nonprofit think tanks and presented in dozens of tables, graphs, and pie charts. The chapters discuss the role of nonprofit organizations and foundations in the national economy; wages and employment; private giving and volunteering; financial trends; and the size, scope, and finances of charities.
