Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Grantmaking by U.S. Foundations: A Report by Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues, reviews grants made to lesbian and gay causes in 2005. That year, foundations awarded $52.8-million — a record high — to support marriage rights, employment discrimination, adoption rights, health, and other issues related to the gay and lesbian community. Civil-rights issues received the most support, with 376 grants totaling $12.6-million, and the largest single supporter of gay and lesbian causes was the Gill Foundation, which awarded $6.1-million. The report also discusses which organizations received the most money, what programs or administrative costs the money supported, and what types of people the grant recipients served.
