Proxy Season Preview Spring 2007: Helping Foundations Align Mission and Investment, provides a guide to forthcoming shareholder votes on corporate practices and policies. The publication offers some background information on proxy voting and organizations that are involved in shareholder advocacy and corporate responsibility, including labor unions, nonprofit organizations, and pension funds. The preview discusses what issues are “hot” this year among investors and foundations, and what other topics will be important in proxy votes. Issues are grouped into categories such as “animal welfare,” “health and safety,” “human rights,” and “labor.” A section on aligning a foundation’s investments with its mission summarizes articles and reports of interest, and other resources include information on where to read more about foundations, proxy voting, companies, and investing. A list of proxy votes that are taking place this spring is included.
