Sharing Connections: A Decade of the Museum Loan Network, chronicles the history of the organization from its founding, in 1995, through 2005. Created to encourage museums to share artworks, artifacts, and other objects, the network awards grants to make it easier for cultural institutions to transport and display pieces — disbursing a total of more than $5.8-million over the years. The organization also created an online directory as a sort of “museum” to allow more people to see the artworks. The publication reviews examples of object exchanges in Indiana, Montana, Vermont, and other states, and measures the network’s successes in efforts to increase museum partnerships and loans. A list of all the museums, their locations, and the grants provided is included.
