Disaster Grantmaking: A Practical Guide for Foundations and Corporations, 2007 Edition, is the product of a collaboration between the European Foundation Centre and the Council on Foundations. The report includes “broad principles, lessons from experience, examples of good and bad practices, facts and figures, and a list of useful Web sites” related to disaster grant making. It offers a list of recommendations to help foundations respond and lend aid during a crisis. An index of recent and continuing challenges — including the 2004 tsunami, civil war in Darfur, and Hurricane Katrina — describes the situations and why each region is particularly vulnerable.
