NEW BOOKS

Executive Transitions: Grant Makers and Nonprofit Leadership Change, by Angela Bonavoglia and Anne Mackinnon, outlines how foundations can help nonprofit organizations as they recruit, train, and support a new leader. The publication describes a grant maker’s role in leadership transitions, financial support during such changes, working with the charity’s board of directors, smoothing a chief executive’s departure or appointment, and other issues. Foundation representatives describe their own experiences working with nonprofit organizations during leadership transitions, and some nonprofit executives discuss what they wish grant makers knew about the process.
