What to Do With Problem Board Members

October 26, 2006 | Read Time: 1 minute

NEW BOOKS

Taming the Troublesome Board Member, by Katha Kissman, uses case studies to examine how nonprofit leaders can deal effectively with problematic trustees. Five chapters discuss common issues, such as disrupted meetings and cliques within the board, the behaviors that cause the problems, and how chairmen and chief executives can respond effectively to smooth things over — and also how they should manage more serious problems like sexual harassment or illegal activity by board members. The publication concludes with a list of suggested Web sites and other resources for further reading.
